Mahanadi bus mishap: Complaint lodged against driver

Cuttack: A day after a bus fell off Mahanadi bridge near Jagatpur here killing least 12 persons on the spot, police registered a case against the driver of the ill-fated bus in connection with the incident.

The bus driver identified as Khageswar Muduli is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of the SCB Medical College and Hospital here. His condition s stated to be critical. A three-member special team has been formed to investigate the incident.

Earlier in the day, Governor Ganeshi Lal and Transport Minister Nrusingha Sahu visited the injured persons undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Last evening, 12 persons, including three women were killed and 50 others sustained critical injuries after a bus they were travelling in from Talcher to Cuttack fell around 30 feet off the Mahanadi bridge near Jagatpur here.
