Mahendra Swain murder: Odisha police arrest accused Ashok from Howrah

In ongoing probe into Seaways Shipping and Logistics Private Limited General Manager Mahendra Swain murder case, Paradip police arrested another accused Ashok Bihari from Howrah in neighbouring West Bengal.

Bihari was arrested from Tilkhana slum in Howrah for his alleged involvement in the sensational murder case. He will be produced in the Howrah court and later he will be brought to Odisha on transit remand.

Earlier, Sharpshooter Mohammad Babul was arrested from Kolkata in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, Paradip police filed a 500 page charge sheet at the JFMC Court Kujang on March 14 naming ten persons including the names of Odisha Stevedores Ltd (OSL)’s Managing Director Mahimananda Mishra and Executive Director Basant Bal.

Both Mishra and Bal accused in Swain’s murder are currently lodged in jail after they were arrested from Bangkok in Thailand.

Mahendra Swain was shot near Ambedkar Bhawan at Madhuban Colony on October 26 last year in Paradip.

Two miscreants had hurled crude bombs at the SUV in which Swain was travelling.

While Swain was fleeing to save his life after alighting from the vehicle, miscreants fired two rounds at him leading to his death.
