Major fire breaks out at COVID hospital in Odisha

Cuttack: A major fire broke out at a COVID hospital in Jagatpur area of Cuttack district today leading to panic among the patients. However, no casualty has been reported in the mishap.

Sources said the fire erupted inside the ICU ward on the first floor of the hospital. But the exact cause behind the fire is not known yet.

“All 130 patients are being shifted to Ashwini COVID hospital in Cuttack, SUM COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar and other Covid Care Centres (CCCs). Of the total patients, 24 were in the ICU,”sources added.

Senior officials, including the city DCP, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner and the CDMO have reached the spot and coordinating the rescue operation.

“The flames have been doused. Shifting of the patients safely is our first priority,” said a senior official.
