Man arrested for cheating Odisha youth with Railway job promise

Bhubaneswar, Aug 10:

Commissionerate Police today arrested a 35-year-old man for cheating three youths of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing them jobs in the Indian Railways.

The accused was identified as Suresh Chandra Pani of Talcher.

Suresh, who has confessed to the crime before police, used to cheat youngsters by luring them with promises of jobs in the Indian Railways.

“Suresh used to call the job seeker through his cell phone after fetching their mobile numbers from job portals. He would assure them of providing grade-II and grade-III jobs in Indian Railways and collect money from them,” said a senior official of Saheed Nagar police station.

“Suresh had taken Rs 12, 50, 000 from three persons assuring them that he will provide them jobs under the discretionary quota in the aforesaid grades, but he neither provided them jobs nor refunded their money,” the police official added.

“After acting on a complaint lodged by one Biswaranjan Padhi, we arrested Suresh and forwarded him to a local court here today,” he added.
