The accused, identified as Rakesh Padhiary of Gandarpur in Barang on outskirt of the city, was working as a daily labourer in the university.

Padhiary was arrested by Infocity police here acting on an FIR lodged today by the girl student, who had handed over the accused yesterday to the police after some girl students of the university caught the culprit red-handed.

The students, in their complaint, had alleged that Padhiary was caught red-handed while he was recording the obscene video footage of the girl with the help of his mobile camera which he had installed in the bathroom of the Campus-VI bathroom of the university.

“After taking the man who was videographing our classmate into our custody, we had handed over the person to the local police yesterday. But today we got to know that police has left the man instead of arresting him,” alleged a girl student of the university.

“The man has admitted to taking obscene videos and photos. He was apprently doing it for about a month. We are afraid whether the vulgar video clips and photos of us were made viral in social website or not,” she said.

Failing to take any action in the incident by the local police, hundreds of students of the university protested this morning demanding arrest of the culprit.

Meanwhile police have arrested Padhiary from his native place and are interrogating him to know whether he has circulated the video clips and photos in social media.
