Man arrested in Odisha double murder case

Bisra police in  Odisha’s Sundargarh district on  Saturday  arrested q person allegedly  involved in the much publicized double-murder case behind Hanuman Vatika area of the city late on July 19 night. The dead bodies were found th next morning.

The arrested man has been identified as Lagu Oram (50), a native of Ranchi area.“We  have arrested  Lagu  Oram and  have forwarded him to court,” said R.C.Dora, IIC, Raghunathpalli police station.

On 20th July 2015, Raghunathpalli police station had recovered the bodies of two persons, one male and one female, behind  Hanuman Vatika, with multiple injuries on their bodies and registered a murder case. Out  of  the two deceased, the male person had  been identified as  Habil Toppo whereas the deceased woman could not be identified.

After registering  a murder case, police  had  started  investigating  the case. During the investigation, police came to know that the woman, alongwith another person, had started living in a small house near a garage, behind Hanuman Vatika complex of the city, since last seven/eight months as husband and wife. While the body of the woman was recovered, her male partner Lagu Oram had been absconding. Police had started  searching  for  Oram, who had emerged as the prime suspect in the double murder.

According to police, deceased woman, identified as Chandini Debi (48), also a native of Ranchi area, was a married lady and also had one grown up daughter and a son. She, however, developed a relationship with Lagu Oram and had left Ranchi with him about seven/eight months ago and started staying with him here at Rourkela.

According to police, Lagu  Oram killed  Chandini  Debi  and  Habil Tappo saw them in an intimate position. Police  have  recovered the iron rod which was used by Lagu Oram for killing  Habil Toppo and Chandni Debi.
