Man arrested in Odisha for hacking boss’ bank account

Sambalpur, May 2:

An employee of a computer peripherals outlet was today arrested by police for allegedly hacking his employer’s bank account and other details and withdrawing money through online transaction in Odisha’s Sambalpur.

According to reports, the accused identified as Priyabrata Nayak from Modipada area here was working with the computer hardware store.

Nayak, a dropout from Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), was working with the store since last one year and soon won the trust of his employer. Taking advantage of this, he hacked data from his boss’ mobile phone, computer and other details to withdraw Rs 4 lakh from the bank account through online transaction.

After successfully diverting the money to his account, he reportedly made online shopping worth lakhs of rupees.

When the employer came to know about the withdrawal through SMS alert on his mobile phone, he lodged a complaint with the local police following which it launched an investigation into the incident.

The Ainthapali police, with the help of cyber cell, cracked the case and raided Nayak’s residence to arrest him. Nayak was today forwarded to court.

Meanwhile, police have cancelled the online purchases to the tune of lakhs by Nayak.
