Man arrested for killing wife’s molester

Bhubaneswar, Aug 8:

Commissionerate Police today arrested Kedar Baral, 36, a resident of Barakuda village under Airfield police limits in the Odisha capital for allegedly killing a 32-year-old man for his attempt to outrage the modesty of his wife during sleep.

The deceased person, identified as Kedar Jena of Mirzapur under Bari-Ramchandrapur police limits in Jajpur district, was rescued by the local police after he was attacked by Kedar in the wee hours of Thursday.

The severely injured Jena, who was initially admitted to Capital Hospital here for treatment,was referred to SCB medical college and hospital (SCBMCH), Cuttack after his condition deteriorated. But while under treatment, he succumbed to his injuries around noon yesterday.

According to Airfield police sources, while the accused Baral, along with his other family members, was asleep in his house,  Jena entered the house. While he was attempting to outrage the modesty of the wife of the accused Baral, she woke up and raised an alarm. Hearing her shouts the accused also woke up. In the ensuing altercation with Jena, an angry Baral attacked Jena with the help of a ‘katuri’ (sharp weapon). Jena somehow managed to call the local police who rescued him.

Police nabbed Baral today for attacking Jena who died yesterday at SCBMCH in Cuttack.

Police had registered a case under sections 302 IPC acting on the report filed by one Rasmit Jena, who happens to be the younger brother of the deceased. The blood stained katuri used in the incident has been seized. Investigation so far has revealed that the deceased had discontinued studies in CET, Bhubaneswar and had recently visited the house of the deceased on the pretext of doing real estate business, police sources said.
