The person, identified as Biranchi Barik, the collection agent of a private organisation named Radiant Cash Management Services, was going to deposit the money at the Bank of India branch at Kanan Vihar, Phase-II, when the miscreants attacked him with a sharp weapon right in front of the bank and decamped with the cash kept in a bag, eyewitnesses said.

Barik, who sustained serious injuries on his head in the attack, was rushed to the KIMS hospital nearby.

The special squad of the commissionerate police, along with a scientific team, has now reached the spot and began investigation into the case.

The scientific team has collected blood samples from the place where Barik was attacked, police said.

Police sources said Barik had been a victim of such an attack earlier too when Rs 10 lakh was looted from him at gun point near Patia Big Bazaar in December last year.
