Man beaten to death over liquor consumption in Odisha

A man was allegedly thrashed to death by a group of persons over his consumption of liquor in Siripur area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district late last night.

According to reports, one Nityananda Nayak (45) of Janardanpur Sasan village under Keonjhar Sadar police limits had gone to Siripur yesterday where he consumed country liquor.

An exchange of words ensued between Nayak and some other persons while the former was in an inebriated state.

In a fit of rage, they attacked Nayak injuring him grievously and fled the spot.

On being informed, police reached the spot, rescued him in a critical condition and admitted him to hospital.

However, Nayak had succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

Police have detained 6 persons in connection with the incident for questioning.
