Man carries pregnant wife on shoulder in Odisha

A tribal man in Rupansi village under Chellagada Panchayat of R.Udayagiri block in Odisha’s Gajapati district walked about 2 km carrying his pregnant wife on his shoulder to reach the Chandragiri hospital here.ambulance10According to reports, Sania Mandala of Rupansi village had to carry his pregnant wife Nibasi (40), who was in her last trimester, to the Chandragiri hospital on his shoulders due to lack of road connectivity to the village. Nibasi lost her life after delivering a baby boy on the way to the hospital.

Due to muddy road, ambulance service is not available in the village.

On Saturday morning, Nibasi’s labor pain had begun and her husband Sania decided to carry her on his shoulder to reach the nearby hospital. But on the way to the hospital her labor pain intensified and she had to deliver the baby on top of the mountain. At the end of her ordeal, Nibasi lost her consciousness.

Though Sania managed to take his wife to the hospital, she was declared brought dead by doctors there.
