Man crushed to death by elephant in Odisha’s Sundergarh   

Rourkela: In a fresh incident of man-animal conflict, a 35-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant while he was sleeping in his house at Solodega village in Tamada forest area under under Bonai sub-division in Sundergarh district late last night.

The deceased has been identified as Lusa Oram.

Sources when Lusa was sleeping with his wife and children, a tusker broke into the house at around 12.30 AM. After seeing the pachyderm, the family members managed to escape the house. However, Lusa came in front of the tusker, which lifted him with its truck and slammed him on the ground, killing him on the spot.

Later, locals called up forest officials, who reached the spot this morning and began an investigation into the incident.

Forest officials said compensation will be provided to the family members of the deceased soon as per the State Government rules.
