Man ends life over family quarrel

Kendrapara, May 5 :

In a tragic fallout of a domestic quarrel, a 52-year-man ended his life on Monday by consuming toxic pesticide while his 25-year-old daughter is battling for life in Biswanathpur village under Rajkanika police station limits in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.

The deceased, according to police, has been identified as Dushashan Sethy.

Reports said the members of Dushashan’s family had a heated exchange of words over a domestic matter following which Dushashan, the family head, consumed pesticide and later, his daughter-in-law Sarojini Sethy (25) to followed suit.

While Dushashan died on the way to the nearby hospital, Sarojini was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition, said Inspector, Rajkanika police station, Bijoy Mallick, adding, the circumstances leading to the incident are under investigation.

A case has been registered in this connection, he said.
