Man found dead on Puri sea beach; probe begins  

Puri/Baripda: The body of an elderly man was found on the sea beach near Shree Chitanya Chhak in Puri this morning. However, the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Sources said some locals first spotted the dead body and informed the police this morning. While the exact reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the elderly man, aged around 60-70 years old, might had come to the pilgrim town to take darshan of the Lord Jagannath.

On receiving information, police reached the spot, seized and sent the body to hospital for post-mortem.  Registering an unnatural death case, the police have begun an investigation into the incident.

In a separate incident, body of a 65-year-old man was found floating in Jambira river near Gholamuhan under Morada block of Mayurbhanj district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Baidhar Hembram of Bhorungasula village under Suliapada police limits in the district. Yesterday, Hembram had left the house saying that he was going to his in-laws house in Chitrada police station area, said his family members.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and initiated an inquiry into the incident.
