Man hacked to death in train in Odisha

A man was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Bhubaneswar-Bangriposi Superfast train near Betanati in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district last night.

The deceased was identified as Rajendra Behera of Anlagunja village in Bangriposi. According to an eyewitness, Rajendra died on the spot after seven miscreants got into the train and attacked him with a sharp weapon.

After the death of Rajendra, the miscreants pulled the chain of the train and ran away from the spot.

On being informed, Betanati SDPO Dhiren Chandra Nanda and the IIC of Betanati police station Minati Biswal reached the spot and started investigation.

Though the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that past enmity might have led to the murder.
