Man held in Odisha capital with counterfeit notes

Commissionerate police yesterday detained a man for transacting counterfeit currencies at a mobile phone store in Bomikhal area in Odisha capital.

The man identified as Md Rubel of West Bengal currently residing in Budheswari area had come to a shop in Bomikhal area to buy a mobile phone. While he gave 10 notes of Rs 1000 denomination to the shopkeeper, the latter suspected it to be fake and informed the Sahid Nagar police.

The local police swung into action and picked up the 30-year-old youth. He was interrogated to find out whether he was a part of a racket. Later, six more counterfeit notes were recoevered from him.

It may be recalled that Infocity police here had arrested two persons for possessing counterfeit notes few days ago.
