Man killed as bank security guard’s gun goes off accidentally in Odisha

In an unfortunate incident, a person died after sustaining bullet injuries as the gun of a security guard at SBI’s Kendupatana branch here went off accidentally today.

The deceased was identified as Trilochan Samal of Kendupatana.

According to reports, the trigger of the gun was pressed accidentally by security guard Gajendra Mal following which Samal sustained bullet injuries on his left thigh and right hand.

He was initially admitted to Salepur community health centre (CHC) in a critical condition and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The security guard was detained by Salepur police for questioning after the incident. The gun has been seized by police.
