Man kills mother, dumps body near playground in Odisha’s Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: In a heart wrenching incident, a person allegedly killed his 50-year-old mother and dumped the body near a playground at Mungapada under Jharsuguda Town police limits in the district last night.

The incident came to fore today after the mutilated body of Usha Rout, the deceased, was recovered by police near the ground.

According to police sources, Usha’s son Mitu was in a live-in relationship with a woman, who was staying with them in their house at Mungapada.

Last night, a verbal duel escalated between Mitu and his mother. The heated exchange of words took an ugly turn when Mitu, losing his cool, crushed her head to death with a stone.

He later dumped the body near the playground behind Manmohan Primary School here and went absconding.

While efforts are on to trace Mitu, police have detained the concerned woman for questioning. Investigation into the incident is underway.
