The three victims were rescued in a critical condition and admitted to Sundargarh district headquarters hospital (DHH). The accused has gone absconding after the incident.

According to reports, Jayaram Mahanandia, the accused, was living with his wife and two daughters in a rented house at Darlipali village. He had separated from his family following a quarrel with his wife during Diwali this year.

Late last night at around 3 am when the woman and her two daughters were sleeping in the house, Mahanandia barged into the room and torched the trio by pouring petrol over their bodies.

They sustained critical burn injuries and were rescued by locals who admitted them to the DHH.

On being informed, police reached the spot and started investigation. Efforts were on to nab the wrongdoer.
