Man smashes wife to death in Odisha; detained

Angul, Feb 19:

Police has detained a man for allegedly stoning his wife to death in Odisha’s Angul district.

One Nilamani Majhi of Budhapanka under Banarpal police limits in Angul district was detained by the police on Thursday for allegedly killing his wife Kainta Majhi by smashing her head with a stone on Wednesday.

Nilamani allegedly smashed his wife’s head with a stone in a fit of rage following a family quarrel.

Police has detained Nilamani and was questioning him on the killing following a complaint by the deceased’s brother in this regard with the police.

Critically injured Kainta died on her way to the hospital.

Police on Thursday sent her body for post-mortem to the district headquarters hospital.

Police has lodged a case and is investigating the matter.
