Man stoned to death over ‘family dispute’ in Puri

Puri: A 55-year-old man was allegedly stoned to death at Khuntia Bagicha in Chudanga Sahi under Town police limits in Puri district today.

The deceased identified as Uma Shankar Acharya was a resident of Chudanga Sahi. However, he was staying in a cabin shop in the locality due to family dispute.

Though the exact reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, the elder brother of the deceased was arrested for his alleged involvement in the crime. It is suspected that he might have killed his sibling over property dispute.

Meanwhile, the Town police have sent the body for post-mortem and begun an inquiry into the incident.
