Man, wife, granddaughter hacked to death by neighbour in Odisha

Ulunda: An elderly person, his wife and granddaughter were allegedly hacked to death by a neighbour at Beheramal village under Ulunda police limits in Odisha’s Sonepur district last night.

The deceased were identified as Pramod Bhuae (70), his wife Bishnupriya Bhuae (60) and their granddaughter Babita (18). Accused Nila Pradhan surrendered before police after committing the crime and was arrested.

According to police sources, an exchange of words ensued between Pramod and Nila yesterday over a petty issue. In a fit of rage, Nila attacked Pramod with an axe during which Bishnupriya attempted to save her husband.

The husband-wife duo was later axed to death on the spot by Nila. Bibita witnessed the entire incident and was too hacked by him while she was trying to flee the spot in a bid to save herself.

The girl was rescued and admitted to nearby hospital by police but she succumbed to her injuries there.

Investigation into the matter is on.
