New Delhi, March 27:

Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi said ex-board chief Shashank Manhohar should take over as the interim president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), replacing incumbent Narayanaswami Srinivasan.

Bedi told IANS that under the circumstances through which Indian cricket is going, Manohar could be the ideal choice to set the house in order.

Bedi also said that the Indian Premier League (IPL) should be disbanded immediately as the very premise on which it was started was not cricket but “for money, money and money alone”.

Bedi also said this is the best opportunity to cleanse Indian cricket from all its ills. He welcomed proposals that some of the Indian cricketers should also be investigated in the light of the revelations made by Justice Mukul Mudgal report.

Bedi felt that none of the people associated with the present dispensation of the board should be given charge.

A couple of former Test cricketers felt that anyone who is contracted with the board should not be considered by the court even as an interim arrangement

“They cannot have the best of both worlds,” one of them said on the condition of anonymity.
