Maoist killed in encounter in Odisha; arms seized

Bargarh: A Maoist was killed in an encounter with security personnel inside a forest near Bhanjagunda in Padampur area of Bargarh district, informed DGP Abhay today.

However, his identity is yet to be established.

The security personnel also seized several arms and ammunitions, including an AK-47 rifle, live bullets and magazines from the spot.

Reportedly, a combing operation was jointly carried out by SOG Jawans and Odisha police inside the forest. During the operation, a cadre Maoist opened fire at the security personnel, following which the latter retaliated leading to his death.

The combing operation is still underway, the DGP said requesting all Maoists to shun violence and join the mainstream.
