Maoist menace, law and order to figure at state police officers’ meet

The 57th Senior Police Officers’ Conference of the state police, scheduled to begin here on Friday, will have a comprehensive review of the prevailing law and order situation in the state with a ficus on the Maoist menace in some pockets.IPS CAP

The two-day conference, to be attended by all district Superintendents of Police, range IGs and DIGs, commandants of all armed police battalions, senior officers of Home Guards and Fire Services, State Vigilance and other police establishments, would deliberate on a host of issues including the ongoing Maoist menace, crimes against women, community policing, human rights violation, protection of weaker sections, highway and coastal policing.

The conference will have an open session in which the district SPs would discuss the problems in their respective districts and prepare a consolidated report.

While the first day of the conference would be inaugurated by Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra at Cuttack, the concluding session would be graced by chief minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar.
