Maoists blast rail track in south Odisha, train services hit

Train services along the south Odisha were disrupted after suspected Maoists blasted the railway track between Muniguda and Munikhol in Rayagada district late on Friday night in which a Railway official was injured.

TRAIN BLAST (6)(1)According to reports, the CPI (Maoist) triggered two blasts in the railway track between 1.30 AM and 4 AM in the down line railway track.

The incident took place at a distance of 100 metres from the CRPF camp.

Following information, Rayagada SP along with a bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs rushed to the spot to investigate the matter.

Police found a banner and some posters of the CPI Maoist in which left wing ultras have protested the visit of US president Barrack Obama to India.

Train services in Muniguda-Ambadola route under the Sambalpur Railway Division of the East Coast Railway were disrupted following the blast.

The Bhubaneswar bound trains coming from Raipur and Vishakhapatnam have been halted at Rayagada station, till reports last came in.

However, the railway officials said that the resumption of train services would be restored very soon.

Meanwhile, combing operation in the area has been intensified to nab the Maoists.
