It may be mentioned here that on the Independence Day this year the Maoists had circulated posters at Pakatia village of Saraskana block protesting the preparation and sale of country liquor in the area and warned the liquor manufacturers and traders of dire consequences.

In another incident, the left wing ultras shot dead a 55-year-old tribal of Namkonda village under Kalimela police station limits in Malkangiri district late on Wednesday night.

According to a belated report, a group of armed Maoists barged into the village in the late night hours and dragged Gutta from his house. They later shot him dead.

While the family members have refused to report the incident to the police, sources, however, said that the incident might have been the fallout of a land dispute.
