Maoists organise camp during martyrs’ week, oppose Odisha’s Gurupriya Bridge

Malkangiri: The Maoists yesterday organised a camp on Odisha-Andhra border as a part of observance of martyrs’ week by them and opposed the recently inaugurated Gurupriya Bridge in Malkangiri district.

According to reports, hundreds of Maoist sympathisers and several leaders of the rebels attended the camp held on the border of Ralegada panchayat of Malkangiri and Korukonda of Andhra Pradesh.

At the camp, the Maoist leaders opposed the Gurupriya Bridge inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. They alleged that the bridge will not be beneficial for the tribals of cut-off areas.

The ultras managed to hold the camp despite tight security arrangements in Maoist-hit districts during the martyrs’ week.
