Maoists posters seized, high alert in Rayagada

High alert has been sounded in Rayagada district following the seizure of Maoist posters in which the left wing ultras have asked the people to stay away from the ensuing polls in these two districts.

The posters, found at some places of Kalyansinghpur block in the district on Sunday, have been removed by the security personnel, said Rayagada SP Rajesh Pandit, adding that that the Maoists have also demanded withdrawal of forces from Muniguda, Bissamkatak and Kalyansinghpur areas of the district.

Security has been tightened in the area to scuttle any attempt of the red rebels to disrupt elections, he added.

It may be mentioned that the Maoists had also put up similar posters in Malkangiri and Koraput districts recently.
