Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped Market Building area in Odisha capital this evening as a group of hooligans wearing masks went on a rampage and ransacked many shops besides attacking vendors.

According to reports, 20-25 armed miscreants arrived at the market place around 6.30 pm and started vandalizing makeshift shops, including food stalls. They also thrashed several vendors before fleeing the spot.

Commissionerate Police sources said two customers were allegedly misbehaved by a shopkeeper, following which they called their associates and attacked him. The incident later led to a group clash, during which two persons sustained injuries.

Till last reports came in, two persons, one from each side, were arrested in this connection while efforts were on by cops to apprehend others. Policemen have been deployed at the spot to avoid any untoward incident.
