Masked robbers loot ornaments worth Rs 4 lakh from city businessman’s house

Bhubaneswar, July 24:

A group of masked robbers allegedly looted gold ornaments worth around Rs 4 lakh from a businessman’s house in Niladree Vihar area under Chandrasekharpur police limits in the wee hours of Thursday, police sources said today.

The matter came to light after the house owner Anupam Agarwala lodged an FIR in this regard with the local police station here today.

Anupam, who was staying with his wife  at plot no- C/226 of Milan Paradise in Niladree Vihar ar for the last 12 years, informed in his FIR that a gang of six robbers with their faces covered with clothes entered from rear side of the house by breaking the window panes.

With iron rods in their hands, the robbers entered the bed room of the couple while they were asleep. The culprits threatened them and asked them for money and the key to the almirah. The looters threatened the couple of dire consequences when the latter refused to hand over the key, informed police quoting the victim’s statement.

After obtaining the key from the scared couple, the robbers looted gold ornaments worth around Rs 4 lakh from the almirah and fled the spot.

Acting on the complaint from Agarwala, police have started investigation into the matter along with scientific team after reaching the spot.
