Massive crackdown on hoarders of pulses in Odisha

The Odisha government today went into overdrive in its crackdown on hoarders and black marketers of dal with officials of the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare department raiding dal godowns in several places across the state.

DAL dumdumaFood Supplies & Consumer Welfare department officials today conducted raids at dal godowns in several places of the state which included Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Rayagada, Balasore and Puri  and seized large quantities of dal.

The Food Supplies department raided 14 godowns in Khetrajpur area of Sambalpur town and seized 841 quintals of dal from nine godowns while it has sealed five godowns.

Similarly, the department seized 215 quintals of dal during raids in Rayagada. The dal was seized during the department’s raid at Kissan Food Processing Unit at Rayagada.

Besides, during raids in Balasore town, the department has seized large quantities of dal while on the other hand, it has seized 176 quintals of dal from a dal mill at Chandanpur in Puri district.

Moreover, in Bhubaneswar at least 170 bags weighing 50 quintals of dal were found from the residence of a retired teacher in Dumduma area.
