Massive fire at Central University of Orissa

Jeypore: A massive fire broke out inside the Central University of Orissa campus in Sunabeda this evening causing extensive damage.

As per sources, the flames were spotted post dusk and it was so devastating that it engulfed trees on the premises. The blaze is believed to have spread to the campus from nearby forest fire.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. The extent of damage was not known.

Worth mentioning, the varsity in Odisha’s Koraput district has been closed sine die since March 15 owing student unrest in the campus over fulfilment of demands. The students had launched an indefinite strike to press for their 60-point charter of demands.
