Master plan to be prepared for development of Chilika in Odisha

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Mar 29:

A master plan will be prepared for developing Chilika as the world class tourist destination in Odisha.

Odisha government has assigned an agency for preparing the master plan for it within four weeks.

A high level meeting chaired by Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi was held at state secretariat yesterday to discuss the master plan and the proposed projects to develop the infrastructure of Chilika, country’s largest lagoon.

Meanwhile, a report has been prepared by IPE Global Consultancy on the basic tourism development of Chilika. The draft report proposing the development of three tourist zones — Rambha, Mangalajodi and Satapada — and programmes based on world tourism was tabled at the meeting yesterday.

Suggestions have been given to incorporate the locals, environment and the boatmen dependant on Chilika for livelihoods into the master plan.
