Matric candidate dies after being hit by truck in Odisha

Bhuban: In a tragic incident, a Matric candidate died after being hit by a speeding truck at Bhuban area in Dhenkanal district today.

The deceased candidate has been identified as Swati Sucharita Jena, daughter of Abhiram Jena of Panibhandar village under Parajang police limits in Dhenkanal.

The incident occurred at around 11.30 am today when Swati, who had appeared in Odisha Matric Examination-2023 that concluded recently, was heading for her maternal grandparents’ house at Dhalapada village.

According to reports, the 16-year-old girl student was travelling on a motorcycle with her father. While moving towards Bhuban from Kamakhyanagar, a speeding truck bearing the Registration Number OD 09 R2531 hit the two-wheeler from its behind near Jamunakote Chhak.

The local police with help of public rushed the injured persons to Bhuban hospital where the girl was declared dead.

Sources said that Swati’s mother had visited her father’s house today morning. She wanted to be there with her mother to watch oepra at her maternal grandparents’ village. The tragic incident took place while she was going to Dhalapada with her family.
