MCC to hold All-Odisha NM Bhuyan Memorial Cricket tourney from Jan 10

Mukteswar Cricket Club (MCC) of Bhubaneswar, one of the oldest cricket bodies in the state, will organize the first all-Odisha NM Bhuyan Memorial Cricket Tournament at the BJB College grounds from the 10th to 20th of January, MCC secretary and former Odisha skipper Prashanta Mohapatra told reporters here today.MCC press meet

Addressing a press conference at the MCC office, Mohapatra and other senior members of the club said 12 top cricket teams of the state will take part in this tournament and every match will be played on a 40-40 over basis. They thanked the chief sponsor Old Monk Club Soda for extending support for the tourney.

The twelve teams that will participate in the 40-40 tournament have been divided into two groups.

Group A will have MCC, Solar Cricket Club, Progressive Cricket Association ( Jahrsuguda), rameswar Sporting, Paramount Sporting and Scan Sporting vying with one another for a spot in the final.

The The six teams in the Group B are Pragati Sporting, Juvenile Cricket Club, BCC Bhubaneswar, Sahid Sporting, Rising Student ( Cuttack) and Biswabharati Club ( Cuttack).

The tournament offers a number of cash prizes for excellence.

While the winner will get a prize money of Rs 30,000, the runner up will get Rs 20,000. The Man of the Tournament will receive a prize money of Rs 10,000 and it will be Rs 5000 for the Man of the Final. The Best Batsman and Best Bowler of the tournament will ger Rs 5000 each.

While there is a prize amount of Rs 2500 for Man of the Semifinals , the cash award for the Man of the Match in every match played, will be Rs 1000.

Besides, MCC will honour the Woman Cricketer of the Year and the Promising Junior Cricketer of the Year with cash prizes of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000 respectively.

MCC office-bearers said they hope to get support from the cricket-loving people and sponsors to help them conduct this tournament every year.

Senior MCC members and patrons including Nabaranjan Pattnaik, Gurjit Singh Chouhan ( both vice-presidents), Subhasis Bhuyan, Ajit Kumar Biswal, Gouraprasad Nanda were present at the media briefing.
