MCL coal mines in Odisha win Greentech Environment Award 2014

Two coal mines of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in Odisha were conferred with the ‘Greentech Environment Award-2014’ for the green practices in mining operations.

Greentech AwardLajkura Opencast project of MCL in Ib Valley Coalfields won the Gold Award while Kaniha Opencast Project in Talcher Coalfields bagged Silver Award at 15th Annual Greentech Environment Award.

The awards were received by Jaswinder Pal Singh, Director -Technical/Projects & Planning of MCL and Mr Jitendra Singh, CGM Environment at Annual Greentech Environment and CSR Conference at Kolkata on January 28-29.

One of the eight subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL), MCL is one of the major coal producing companies of India. It was carved out of South Eastern Coalfields Limited in 1992 with its headquarters at Sambalpur in Odisha. It has its coal mines spread across Odisha and has total seven open cast mines and three underground mines under its fold.
