A K Dubey, Chairman, Coal India, had also made a general appeal to Trade Unions and workers yesterday to reconsider their call to go on strike.

The trade unions and the employees of Coal India as well as its subsidiary CPSUs had been requested not to go on strike in view of its serious implications on coal production and its dispatch operations in the company, which may lead to shortage of dry fuel in the country.

Four central trade unions- Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Hind Mazdur Sabha (HMS) and Bhartiya Mazdur Sangh (BMS) – had given notice to go on strike in coal sector i.e. Coal India and its subsidiary companies such as WCL, MCL, BCCL, NCL, ECL, SECL,CCL, CMPDI and Singreni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).

It may be noted that MCL is one of the major coal producing company of India having seven open cast mines and three underground mines under its fold. It is Coal India’s leading subsidiary, which has consistently achieved its coal production targets during the current financial year.
