Deputy Election Commissioner Alok Shukla is taking stock of the preparations for the upcoming elections in Odisha at a high level meeting here. The meeting, which began a short while ago, is being attended by chief electoral officer (CEO) Mona Sharma, the IGs of all four zones and collectors and SPs of all 30 districts.

Talking to media persons before the meeting, Shukla said the meeting was intended to review the preparations in place to ensure a free and fair election. "We will look for ways to prevent the use of money power and ensure a free and fair a election," he said.

CEO Mona Sharma said the Election Commission has been insisting on information on the Commission being constantly updated. "Besides, security arrangements in place for the elections, especially in the Maoist affected areas, will also be reviewed," she said.
