Mercury all set to touch 40 degrees in Odisha in three days

With most parts of Odisha witnessing a sharp rise in the day temperature today, the evening weather bulletin has predicted that the mercury is most likely to touch 40 degree Celsius mark in the next three days.

heat wave“There will be no perceptible change in the weather condition in Odisha barring rain or thundershower at few places till next 5-6 days. However, the day temperature will have a gradual rise during the period,” said Dr Sarat Sahu, director Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar to the media.

The department of Meteorology of the Odisha University of Agriculture Technology (OUAT) has said there will be no drastic change in the weather conditions till March 20.

“The wind flow which is obstructed in the lower atmosphere, will start flowing northward in the next 24 hours. As a result, there will be minor fluctuation in temperature in the next 48 hours till March 19 after which it is most likely to touch 40 degree in the capital city and most parts of Central Odisha in the next two days,” Dr Surendranath Pasupalak, agro-meteorologist, OUAT, in a release today.

Meanwhile, temperature recorded in the state today was highest in Bhubaneswar with 38.8 degrees followed by Malkangiri (38.4) and Angul (38).

Apart from this, places where temperature remained between 35 and 37 degrees are Jharsuguda (36.7), Sambalpur (36.9), Hirakud (37.3), Sundargarh (35.3), Talcher (36.8), Bhawanipatna (35.5), Bolangir (37.5), Phulbani (35.8), Titlagarh (35) and Sonepur (37).
