Mercury crosses 40°C mark at 16 places in Odisha; Thunderstorm likely in several dists

Bhubaneswar: Heat wave conditions have gripped Odisha as mercury surpassed/ touched 40°C mark at 16 places of the state, today.

Baripada was the hottest place of the day with a maximum recorded temperature of 43.4 degree Celsius.

Other places where maximum temperature crossed/ touched 40°C were Angul (42.9), Jharsuguda (42.7), Keonjhar (40.3), Sambalpur (41.8), Sundargarh (42.0), Hirakud (40.6), Talcher (41.6), Bhawanipatna (40.8), Balangir (43), Titlagarh (41.8), Malkangiri (40), Sonepur (43.2), Boudh (42.5), Paralakhemundi (41) and Bhadrak (40).

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued thunderstorm warning for several districts of the state.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Ganjam on April 16.

Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Angul and Dhenkanal on April 17.
