Mercury shoots up in Odisha

The state capital recorded the highest temperature of this season as mercury went up sharply at most places in Odisha today.

Sun  HeatA local Met office release here this evening said the temperature is most likely to touch 43 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, Titlagarh and Jharsuguda in the next four days.

The clear weather condition has given rise to sudden rise in temperature, the release added.

It however, said there is possibility of rain or thundershower at some places in Jajpur and Mayurbhanj districts and Nor’wester in some parts of the coastal districts in the next 24 hours.

Angul was the hottest place with 40.7 degrees while Bhubaneswar recorded the highest temperature of this season at 40.1 degrees. Besides, Talcher recorded 40 degrees.

Temperature also went past 38 degrees in Chandbali, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Hirakud, Bhawanipatna, Bolangir, Titlagarh and Malkangiri, the release added.
