Mere 72 hours after marriage, newly-wed couple dies in road accident in Odisha

Berhampur: A newly-wed couple died in a road accident in Golanthara area of Odisha’s Ganjam district around 72 hours after the marriage.

The deceased were identified as CH Pranabika of Berhampur and G Benu of Ichhapur in Andhra Pradesh.

According to reports, the two had tied the nuptial knot at a temple in the neighbouring state on February 10.

As per rituals, Benu and Pranabika were heading towards her father’s place in Berhampur on a motorcycle yesterday when a speeding truck hit the two-wheeler near the Golanthara police station in the evening.

They sustained critical injuries in the accident and were rushed to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here. However, the two succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.

Police have started an investigation into the incident.
