Minor among four arrested for abducting minor girl in Odisha

Sundargarh, Feb 9:

Four persons, including a minor, were arrested and forwarded to court today for allegedly abducting a minor girl in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on February 6, police said.

While the prime accused Muna alias Raj Kishore Sahu, a minor, has been forwarded to juvenile court, the other accused have been forwarded to a local court. Another accused Pramod Sahu is at large.

The arrested youths have been identified as Muna alias Raj Kishore Sahu (17), a resident of Bargankachar village under Bargaon police station limits, Sushil Saha (25), a resident of Bargankachar village and driver of Bolero vehicle, Manas Majhi (25), a resident under Rasrajpur under Sadar Police station limits and Prakash Ekka (17), a resident of Talimunda under Bargaon police station limits.

“The abducted girl has been rescued and four other accused have been arrested. Another accused in this case, Pramod Sahu, who is absconding, will be arrested soon,” Sundargarh Superintendent of police R Prakash told media persons.

On February 6, the minor girl (17) studying +2 Science in Bargankachar Panchayat College under Bargaon police station, had gone to college to appear for practical examination. While returning from college on a motorcycle, the girl and her father—Upendra Naik—were waylaid by the five accused, who shoved them into a Bolero jeep at gun point and sped from the spot.

Ater travelleing about 15 KM, the kidnappers pushed the girl’s father from the vehicle near Karamdih and threatened them of dire consequences if he revealed it to anybody, before fleeing the scene.

Following an FIR, Sundargarh police launched a search to trace the minor girl and arrest the abductors.

The family hailing from Sahjabahal village under Bargaon police station limits alleged in the FIR that Raj Kishore Sahu and his associates had abducted the girl.

Bargaon police, after frantic efforts, rescued the girl from a house at Barpali under Hemgiri police station limits and arrested the prime accused. The other three youths involved in the case were arrested later. A team of Bargaon police led by IIC Anita Pradhan and a police team of Hemgiri police led by Thakur Das Murmu conducted the raid.

Prime accused Muna was forwarded to court on Monday afternoon under IPC section 376, 363,  366(a), 34 IPC, sec 6 of the POCSO Act and sec 25 of the Arms Act while the other three arrested youths have been forwarded to court under IPC section 363,366(a), 34 IPC, 6 POCSO Act and 25 arms act. Police have also seized the Bolero vehicle, police said.

According to sources, Raj Kishore Sahu was in love with the minor girl. When the family members of the girl came to know about it, they decided to get her married to someone of their choice. When Raj Kishore came to know about the developments, he hatched a plan with his aides to abduct her to take revenge.
