Minor boy dies after run over by speeding truck in Odisha

Balasore: In a tragic incident, a minor boy was mowed down by a speeding truck while he was returning from his tuition class in Solpata area under Basta police station in Odisha’s Balasore district today.

The deceased has been identified as Raj Prakash Pradhan, a Class VIII student of Budhiamari village in Sartha Panchayat. He was residing at his uncle’s residence in Solpata and was commuting to school from there on a daily basis.

According to sources, he was returning from tuition classes after attending school today, when a speeding truck, bearing the number OR 09K 5442 hit him. The body died on the spot.

Soon after the incident, the driver tried to speed up the vehicle and tried to escape but he was caught by the locals at Silada Chhak here.

Enraged over the incident, the irate locals mercilessly thrashed the driver and set the truck afire.

By the time of filing this report, the locals were staging a road blockade demanding adequate compensation for the family of the deceased.
