Sources said Sahil Oram was on the way to a nearby Anganwadi centre when he was run over by a speeding lorry coming from the opposite direction.

The incident took place at about 7.30 AM.

Tension ran high in the area after the irate villagers severely thrashed the lorry driver Ranjit Pradhan (23) of Jharkhand while he was trying to flee the area after the incident.

The irate villagers later staged a road blockade demanding compensation to family members of the deceased.

Following information, a team of Lahunipada police led by IIC RC Sahu rushed to the spot and arrested the driver.

The villagers later withdrew the blockade after the lorry owner agreed to pay Rs 20,000.

Police later sent the body for post mortem.
