Railway Police are probing the alleged murder of a minor girl, who was abducted by a youth from an apartment in the Odisha capital three days ago.
The incident came to light after the father of the deceased lodged a complaint with the commissionerate police late on Wednesday night.
According to the FIR, a youth, working as a supervisor of a contractor had abducted a class-VIII girl from the Railway apartment behind Bhubaneswar Railway Station on May 4.
Following the incident, Suresh, the father of the deceased, lodged a complaint with the Government Railway Police (GRP).
Police, during investigation, came to know that the minor girl was kept in a house at the railway colony at Sarakantara Retang on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
However, after reaching the house on Tuesday morning, police found that the girl had been set on fire. She was rushed to the Capital Hospital and later to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where she succumed to her injuries on Wednesday morning.
Police handed over the body to the family members after the post-mortem.
The aggrieved father, lodged another complaint with the police late on Wednesday night.
Police are now in the hunt for the abductor who has absconded.
