Minor girl among two drown in Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: Two persons including a minor girl drowned in Mukundpur area of Rayagada district after a boat in which they were crossing a pond capsized today afternoon.

The deceased were identified as one Manu Kumar Sahu (21) and Shibani Nayak (10). The incident occurred during their work hours in a farmhouse on the village outskirts.

As per reports, Manu and Shibani boarded a boat to get across the Mukundpur pond. Before they could reach the other side of the pond, the boat sank leading to their drowning.

Locals immediately jumped into the pond and rescued them. Manu and Shibani were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical conditions where the doctors declared them dead.

Mukundpur police seized the bodies and sent them to Rayagada District Head Quarters Hospital (DHH) for autopsy.
