Minor girl dies of dengue in Odisha capital

Pipili (Puri), Feb 21:

A minor girl, who was afflicted by dengue since last 19 days, died of the disease at a private hospital in the Odisha capital in the late night hours on Thursday.

dengueSubhadra Jena (9), a class IV student of Orakala Primary School and daughter of Santosh Kumar Jena of Gurusahi village in Orakala Panchayat under Pipili block in Puri district, was suffering from measles. The family members later admitted her to Pipli Community Health Centre as there was no sign of remission of fever.

But as her condition began to deteriorate, she was later shifted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar where she was tested as dengue positive.

Stating that her condition was critical, the doctors advised the family members to shift her to the ICU at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Later, she was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where she died.
