Minor girl gang raped, assaulted by two youths in Odisha’s Jajpur
Sources said the girl, who belongs to Kadama village within Korei police limits in the district, had gone to attend a mela nearby when the incident took place.
Jajpur: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped and then assaulted by two youths in Korei block of Odisha’s Jajpur district on Sunday night. The 16-year-old girl, who was referred to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack, is in a critical condition.
Sources said the girl, who belongs to Kadama village within Korei police limits in the district, had gone to attend a mela nearby when the incident took place. Preliminary investigation revealed that while returning, two youths – one from Kadama village and another from Routpada allegedly abducted the girl and then gang-raped her. The grave injury marks on the girl’s face and body indicate that she was physically assaulted too.
When she did not return, locals and family members looked for her and found her in a critical state. She was then immediately rushed to Cuttack’s SCB medical college and hospital.
Meanwhile, police have started investigation after taking suo motu cognizance of the incident. The accused, however, are at large till reports last came in.
